Sleep Study Costs and Coverage??

Hi all, I was recommended for a sleep study by my physician because i reported waking up choking and snoring. common symptoms of sleep apnea. I got a call from one of the sleep groups stating i had to pay $1700(my deductible) for it to be covered. Is there a way around this? Why are sleep studys not covered by insurance but treatments(such as CPAPs) based on sleep study results covered? Hopefully i can get this cheaper and get this test performed.
