In the US, what is the legal source for the patient's right to pick his pharmacy of choice? There must be some federal law, rule, or regulation that specifies that. It's my understanding that the physicist / provider MUST send the prescription to the pharmacy the patient determines (specialty pharma is different, I mean "regular" pharmacy), and that there is no such thing as a pharmacy of the physician's / provider's choice.
If a physician/provider does that wrong, would this be severe enough for a quality-of-care complaint with the state?
