I had an MRI done at a hospital and the receptionist took my insurance information and told me it was covered. I was then charged for the entirety of the scans because my insurance does not cover it, I discovered. (I know, I learned my lesson). My primary care physician spoke to the billing department and got the price down to $1700 from $8k. The billing department refuses to send me a new bill, they just want me to share my CC info. They are a very established and credible hospital. Why would that be?
I am totally fine paying it but I think it’s weird they think I should give them my credit card info and just take them at their word. What if I pay $1700 and then they change their minds? I just feel like I need a clear explanation but they are so unclear about the reasoning.
