Qualified for Medicaid though I have existing private insurance

Recently my parents have kicked me out (f19) and mentioned they were no longer financially supporting me. I went to apply for SNAP as I'm in NY and the website said that I didn't have health insurance, so I assumed they took me off since they took their bank accounts off of my loans and are not paying anything for me since august, so I had figured that I was taken off since I'm not on speaking terms with my parents. I applied for Medicaid and qualified yesterday, and my policy starts next month, though when I was able to log into my Cigna account today, it said I was actively insured. How was I able to qualify for Medicaid if I already have active private insurance and why did the NY state benefits website say they found I had no health insurance?
