I was looking for an orthodontist to get braces, and my friend recommended hers. When I went in, I told them I was a referral from her. I ended up not getting the braces because the price was higher for me than for my friend, but I understood because they said it was a case-by-case basis. I told my friend about the price difference, and she said she would ask them about it when she went in for her own appointment later that day. When we met up later, she told me what I already knew about the price difference, but then she showed me my X-rays! I was surprised because I thought she was only going to ask about the cost, but she showed me my panoramic and cephalometric X-rays with the explanation I already knew. I'm not mad at my friend, but I am wondering why the orthodontist would disclose my information without consulting me first. I feel violated and like my privacy was breached.
