Ambulance bill I could've potentially avoided?

So recently I went to a standalone emergency room and was found to have kidney stones which needed to be broken up through a procedure. They didn't have the equipment to do it there so they transferred me to their main hospital, and they put me in an ambulance to do it, and I don't remember being told I could have someone else bring me there. Come today I have an ambulance bill of $1400 dollars and I was just wondering is this standard, to charge for an ambulance ride even between the same hospital?
