Is phlebotomy a dead end job and not many job opportunities?

I have been a phlebotomist for a while now (5 years). No idea if this is just me or there's any truth to it. I just feel like there's not many job opportunities as a phleb. There's not too many labs to apply to; and there's lots of hospitals but that's if hospital even interviews you (lucky to get interview), let alone hire you. And it seems as though the main labs (LabCorp and Quest) I can't even get interview. In 5 years I had 2 jobs, both labs and it was whatever is considered below LabCorp & Quest. And the pay is low, but where I'm at now pays most and that includes hospitals in my area (they post in description a range a d it's still higher). Still low pay but better than most places.
