So I got an annual woman’s health appointment for the first time in over 5 years. It came out clear and good with the exception the doc recommended I do a genetic testing due to family breast and ovarian cancer history (I was denied a mammogram despite that history, because they said I was too young per health guidelines or what have you). Genetic testing is really expensive and I’m not sure what to do. I also didn’t get any blood drawn at this appointment. Should I pay for blood test at the local lab out of pocket? Like a general blood draw and then maybe a hormone testing. Should I pay for an out of pocket mammogram?
I’m 30. It will take me some time to financially get better insurance. I don’t mind saving and paying out of pocket but I’m not sure how to do it in the most cost-saving way. My insurance only covered half of my annual woman’s appointment this year (and I did it at a planned parenthood because it came out to be less than the hospital when I did the math )
