I have recently been to 2 oral surgeons regarding my case and a few days ago I got bills for the consultations that are about $300 each. I didn't realize the dental consultations cost that much (or anything at all for that matter) as I am from another country and am not yet used to the US healthcare system. Can I ask them to lower the cost for these bills or is that futile?
Apart from that, I've visited a 3rd oral surgeon who has actually provided me with the cost for the surgery I need (jaw surgery, it's actually considered a medical expense but you go to a dental doctor) and it costs $45000 and he is "out-of-network" with all insurance providers, meaning I have to pay most of this out of pocket. Is it possible to negotiate this?
