I've noticed a disturbing trend lately where doctors are partnering with companies to deliver you OTC products without your consent. It's happened to me twice in the last 6 months. The first time was for bandages after a minor surgery. Despite telling the doctor I would buy my own after-care supplies, they apparently placed an order with a medical supply company for a bunch of bandages. Almost 3 months after I got this mysterious box in the mail, I got an invoice for almost $300. The markup on these bandages is insane, and since it's more than 30 days from delivery I can't return the unused products. The second time was for a recent colonoscopy. Instead of giving me a list of OTC prep products, they give my information to a third party company that will provide everything I need... of course for a highly inflated rate. This is such a racket!
