[Discussion] Opportunities for MHA in Mid-30's

Background -

I've been working in a healthcare niche program for around 7-8 yrs between consulting/pharmacy services and now finally on the hospital side of the industry at the manager level. After seeing everyone and their dog having graduate degrees in this field I decided I better get mine if I ever want to move up. I got accepted to an MHA program at a great school and I'll be mid-30s when I graduate. I know there are plenty of people with tons of career experience on this sub so I'm hoping to glean some knowledge and advice.

Discussion -

  1. General Benefit - What has anyone else's experience been with getting an MHA in their 30's or mid-career? Did it help your career (comp or position)? Do you have any tips with maximizing it's benefits?
  2. Administrative fellowships - I read about these plenty on this/other subs and how they're "cheat codes" when it comes to career trajectory in health admin.
    1. Do older people get a shot at these? Do people with experience want/need these?
  3. Opportunity Expansion - If you are fairly pigeon-holed in a niche program/service, does an MHA help you expand your opportunities? (e.g. You work in pharmacy, you get an MHA, you can then work in finance or general admin) If you have experience in this - how did it help you? Any advice on leveraging it?
