Has anyones healthcare provider asked for travel information when trying to get a 90 day prescription approved for a non-abused drug?

I'n going to a different state for leisure for a few months and my insurance usually only lets me fill my medication (descovy) 30 days at a time but I will be gone longer than 30 days out of the state and they asked me to provide specific travel information to get the 90 day approved. I find this odd considering that other people I know have no problem getting the 90 day supply approved and filled even if they are not traveling. Especially considering it isn't a drug that can be abused like opiates or benzos. Is this normal behavior from a health insurance company to ask details like that?
