Most states allow for pharmacist in their state to substitute a generic for a referenced product without a prescription change.

- Why is this same rule/reg not carried forward to biosimilars - which are similar substitutes to biologic agents like insulin?
- Does your doc prescribe any biosimilar meds that you know of? Especially in the insulin realm.
FDA: Prescribing Biosimilar and Interchangeable Products
Other industrialized countries have been using biosimilars for several years - is our approval process so stringent that many don't make the mark? Or is it that docs just aren't prescribing them? Seems the use of them in other industrialized countries should give them a few points in the approval process.
These biosimilars would save cost for the patient - who is holding us back?
