I was ordered to get a CT scan of the head w/o contrast due to increasing headache severity by my primary care physician. They submitted an authorization and it was denied. I found out the cash price at the location was about $100 less than what I would've paid with insurance (with deductible and such).
I asked the estimations department about doing it cash pay, and they said they do not recommend getting a CT scan via cash pay, because if they find something, then my insurance can deny further claims to treat whatever they find because it was cash pay.
Is this true? Or are they trying to get more money out of me? I also looked up CT scans self pay near me and I found some for massively cheaper through a radiology place vs the large hospital system I am going through.
