I have an enormous bill for an ER visit when I was experiencing gastric bleeding a few months ago. The doctor was young and cocky and did not take my concerns seriously. I told him I have celiac disease to which he visibly cringed and when I told him it was experiencing “a lot of bleeding” he denied it saying most gut bleeding just looks like a lot (I have celiac, bruh, my gut bleeds all the time. I know what a lot looks like, and I was literally sent here because the urgent care doc said I was anemic.)
Despite this they gave me the GI cocktail (lidocaine and mylanta) I presume in an effort to prove I was lying about my symptoms which was EXCRUCIATING, did a CT, and then pretty much just monitored me until my iron rebounded.
I’ve since seen my GP who is pissed because apparently nothing this doctor did was correct when you take my medical history under consideration. You wouldn’t have even been able to see my typical type of bleeding (polyps) on a CT and he should have done an ultrasound instead. My GP sent me for the ultrasound because I still cannot eat months later and we are working on it together. I don’t feel like I should have to pay this bill since all they did was put me in pain, do the wrong tests, and then send me home still in serious condition.
Is there any way I can dispute the bill?
