Make your insurance problems your HR department’s problems
Insurance companies know you are not their customer, your employer that contracted with them is their customer. You are a captive participant, you are literally the revenue generating product your employer has gifted the insurance company.
The insurance company has no incentive to provide you any “customer service..” you are not in a free market where you can just take your business elsewhere.
If working with insurance is a headache include your HR department on the emails. Take time off to work to go through insurance paperwork. Take disability until you are able to get those appointments 4-6 months out. Inform your HR department of every denial, prior auth, and long wait times. Let them know how it is affecting your ability to do your job.
Make it transparent to the insurance company that you are keeping your HR department in the loop. If you are getting the run-around, let the insurance company know you will be talking to your employer’s HR department about the horrible service.
Make it so yo your employer will consider changing carriers so the insurance company has incentive to get their shit together. The insurance company literally doesn’t care about you from a customer perspective. They do care if they lose a contract with your employer. All the premiums from all those employees disappear.
