Over a billion people worldwide have sleep apnea, it goes undiagnosed in 80% of cases, and significantly increases the risk of developing and dying from the leading causes of death including heart attack, stroke, cancer, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, accidents, suicide, and more. In my opinion, sleep apnea is one of the most common, deadly, debilitating, and under-diagnosed conditions in the world. Hundreds of millions of people live out their lives a shadow of themselves, unaware that they have a treatable condition. At that, averaged out over decades, millions and millions of people die prematurely from sleep apnea. I'm overwhelmed by the aggregated mass of pain and suffering around the world because of the lack of awareness and the lack of readily available screening options.
It's time that we advocate for mass screening in the vein of mammograms or colonoscopies. Feel free to read and share my story below. Therein you'll find the research behind my claims.
