I'm not sure if this is an insurance question or a billing question, but here goes.
I'm a student at the Ohio State University, and have student health insurance through United Healthcare. I fractured a bone in my about 2 months ago, for which I was given a velcro brace by Hely & Weber. According to that link, it costs around $40. At the time, I was told by our university hospital people that in case the insurance doesn't cover the whole amount, I'll be billed for the extra amount.
I just received a bill today (after 2 months) from a company called "Dasco Home Medical Equipment" for $159 for that brace. The outrageous margin on this item aside, I'm kinda surprised that I got the bill for the whole amount. Should I contact my university hospital personnel about the insurance part of it? Or should I call the insurance company? I'm assuming calling Dasco will get me nowhere.
Please let me know if you have any insights/suggestions. Thank you.
