So I am really struggling to find information about this online and obviously plan to talk to a lawyer but wanted to see if anyone could help if they have experience.
I am a dietitian who owns my own practice. I have my own EMR and do my own billing. I rent out office space from a cardiology office and obviously receive quite a few referrals from them. The cardiologist discussed how he wishes everyone could see me but he and his staff don’t have time to screen every single patient or even talk about nutrition most of the time.
Is it legal to have a “nutrition consultation contract” where I could sign a BAA and have access to their EMR to pretty much reach out to all new patients to see if they are interested in meeting with a dietitian?
I have no desire to be an employee or their independent contracted provider btw (Their EMR costs $700/month to be a provider and mine is only $100. I went down that road originally and definitely don’t want to do it again).
