Our Lovely Medical System

This might not be the place for this, but I’m going to rant nonetheless. My wife is 30, and has been going through multiple health issues for a year now. It began as pain during intercourse, which led to a diagnosis of endometriosis. This led to a laparoscopic surgery last February (of which we still can’t afford to pay off), and that led to her contracting c. Diff in the hospital. To which her obgyn said oh sorry we’ll go back to work you’re cleared! We go to a different OB and different general doctor who treat the infection, and determine that she needs to take birth control to regulate the pain she still had months after surgery. Then it became a depot lupron shot, and then a depot provera shot, and the pain is still violent and constant to the point where my wife can’t even get off of the couch without assistance (for the record she’s 5 ft 4, 100 pounds). Then fast forward to another new OB today who says that none of the other doctors from the past year even called for any GI work to get a comprehensive look at my wife’s health. So now we have a colonoscopy to look forward to and a CT scan. The OB wanted us to contact our primary care doctor and get them scheduled as soon as possible so we can figure out what’s wrong with my wife. We do this, but the primary care doctor (who she’s already seeing on Tuesday), says oh we’re so sorry since you haven’t been in to see us in a few months you have to come in Tuesday and do your co-pay to be able to schedule those tests. It’s great that the US medical system is just a fat, hungry demon that seeks only to devour the sounds of the weak and poor by pumping pills and unnecessary surgery without actually finding the problem. To all the women who have to deal with negligent doctors and half assed approaches, I am so sorry that this system is against you. Also, I’m considering using my Canadian citizenship and getting the fuck out of this wild, monetary based circus that is the US healthcare system.
