I'm getting my first physical exam in years at a new family clinic. I received an estimated bill for my upcoming appointment and I noticed that the clinic is charging me for an office visit on top of billing the insurance for the physical exam. I was under the impression that when visiting a clinic for preventive care or for a physical exam it would all be covered under insurance. I guess not?
I'm 25 and do not have a primary care Dr as my insurance plan does not require one and I normally only visit urgent cares when I'm really sick. My insurance plan is a high deductible Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO TX offered by my employer. No copays, but employer provided $1k a year on FSA funds. I have no problem charging the office visit on the FSA account, but wanted to double check with others if it's normal to get charged for an office visit for getting a physical exam?
