[Question - Insurance] Denied for Thyroiditis and Cannabis Dependency?

26 y/o Male, diagnosed borderline Hashimotos (most common autoimmune disease in America) and I used medicinal cannabis for 1 year. Is this really a “pre existing condition” significant enough to deny me coverage? I feel this must be a mistake.
