[Discussion] Medicare representatives telling me to break the law to get my prescriptions

The title is the TLDR, but in short, I have medicare for my home state. I'm currently at school in another state. I need to refill my prescriptions, and this was the exchange I had with a representative.
"We can't cover your prescription because you're out-of-state. Do you have someone who lives in your state that can send it to you?"
"Isn't it illegal to send prescription drugs through the mail?"
"Yes, but it's your only option."
"What, to break the law?"
"In essence."
Look, I get that this is how the system works and that they only have certain pharmacies in-network, but the closest in-network pharmacy to me is 40 miles away! My school isn't in the middle of nowhere either, there are multiple Walgreens within 10 miles.
Thankfully my meds are $30 for a month's supply with goodrx and other discounts but it pisses me off to think of someone in my position needing insulin or some other expensive medication needing to pay out of pocket or break the law to get the meds they need.
We need a new system.
