Hello, I don’t know if you guys are any health experts or can help me figure what exactly caused it.
It was around 2 years ago, It started out with me being sick with a cold. When I got home I drunk some tea and took an alkaseltzer and then I lied down. About an hour later my stomach was in unbearable pain, i couldn’t even stand up straight and felt like I had to throw up but couldn’t. I thought I was going to die honestly.
I hoped it would go away but after 30 mins later I told my family and my brother came and took me to the hospital. I threw up on the way there and I had to get help in a wheelchair.
Once I finally got in a room, they gave me some narcotics to ease the pain. I was told that my potassium was Critically low. Then another doctor came and gave me a cat scan and he told me that my bowel nonevent was slowed down and if it didn’t get better then I would have to get surgery.
Luckily, after some rest, a whole bag of potassium through an IV and a liquid diet I was able recover in 2 days and released.
But I wonder was it my low potassium that caused my bowel to slow down or was it something else and what exactly was my condition called?
