I went to an opthamologist office recently for some swelling on one of my eyelids and slight blurriness that eye that I've had for a few weeks (had gone to an optometrist previously and he thought it was an allergic reaction). The doctor performed a standard test where he just checked to see if I can read some letters on the wall. He then tried to flip my eyelid over and after a few attempts, he was able to see the underside of my eyelid. They diagnosed the swelling/bump as a stye, wrote me a prescription for antibiotics and a cream, and then sent me away.
Today, I noticed that my insurance was billed $1.9k, none of which was covered by insurance. I found out that this doctor was out of network but I'm still completely shocked how this 10 min exam came out to be this amount and wanted to get a second opinion the cost. Can you guys let me know your thoughts on this?
I live in California if that matters..thanks in advance!
