So a little bit of background. I’m 25 years old I have an associates in general studies and I’m currently an electrical apprentice for the IBEW. Work isn’t bad and it will pay great once I finish my apprenticeship and it’s something I’m really good at...but I don’t find the work enjoyable at all. I have always wanted a career somewhere in healthcare probably more on the admin, business or marketing side but I stopped going to school because of the cost.
Now I am 2 years into a career and debt free and with my wife just joining the military I have thought of going back to school but I’m not entirely sure what I could do with some of these degrees. One degree in particular that catches my eye would be Health Science Administration. The only problem is I’m really not sure what I can actually do with this degree.
My dream job would pretty much be bringing new and innovative healthcare technologies to hospitals for actual use and getting bigger exposure for life changing products. In my free time I’m always researching new products coming to the market and some that are awaiting FDA approval (think Butterfly Network, Nano-X imaging, DermTech patches, Myomo’s robitic braces). I do this usually hours on end during the week and I would love a job where I could help integrate them into hospitals. Or something along the lines of fixing our country’s healthcare problem in general. I’m not sure if that would be marketing or something I could do in healthcare administration. I’m kind of lost where to go at this point degree wise.
I was also wondering if say I do go for one of these degree programs, are there any type of jobs I could do while in school that would help me and also boost my resume?
TLDR; wanting to switch careers to healthcare, not sure what degree. Health science administration is an interest but not sure what to do with the degree.
