So, wife needs a single view xray of left knee. Our Marketplace Ambetter plan lists a hospital 30 miles away from us, not the local hospital 5 miles away.
We call and ask about our co-pay amount, and it's going to be $257. Not gonna happen. :)
I check on MdSave (.com) and the prepay xray will be $125 at a place 60 miles away. Not happening either. :)
Call the local hospital, ask for cash price/please help, and the price is $34.50! Now we're talking. Zipped down there, paid the person. Done deal.
What an absolute stupid way to run healthcare.
