[Discussion] Problems with employer based health insurance

I was having a debate with a person that says that the system in america now, with employer based health insurance covering everything including well visits and non emergencies is perfectly fine. I argued that prices would be much cheaper if individuals rather than insurance companies paid for non emergencies and then said individuals only used insurance for emergencies. He argued that when insurance companies no longer pay for well visits and non emergencies, people will voluntarily go to less well visits (obviously to save money). And from there, more people would develope illnesses that require emergency procedures than ever before. He argued that this is because when people go to less well visits, it would obviously take longer for doctors to notice symptoms and therefore more people would find themselves with illnesses that have developed past the point of prevention (because no doctors noticed symptoms of the oncoming said illness). He then argued that this would do nothing but raise the price of insurance because more people would need emergency procedures, and therefore the insurance company providing said emergency procedures would need more revenue to fund it, and therefore charge their customers more. And obviously this goes against the idea that a system of "emergencies only insurance" would create lower prices across the board. How do I come back to this?
