A few days ago I learned that California was reinstating the penalty for not having coverage. I went to CoveredCa and started that process but ran into a snag with my income. I've been unemployed for several months but got a job on Monday. I put in my projected first paycheck to be around the end of February cause I won't be starting for another week.
I submitted an Attestation of Income form with my estimate of 27,500 before taxes. I confirmed the eligibility requirements for Medi-cal to be 17,237. Today is the last day to sign up and I also can't find information on if there's any leeway to be exempt from the penalty. I tried calling CC but they're so busy they have an automated message saying as such and then hanging up. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
