My body butter won’t thicken?

I’ve been making whipped body butters for a while now and they usually turn out nice no matter what recipe I use. I wanted to add beeswax and arrowroot powder this time to reduce greasiness and to thicken it up a little. I used a recipe I’ve used before, 1/4c Shea, 1/4c cocoa butter, 1/4c coconut oil, and 1/4 sweet almond. Then I added a teaspoon of beeswax and a teaspoon of arrowroot. This was my first time added beeswax and arrowroot and I only added a small amount just to test the texture. I’m concerned that maybe I had the heat too high when melting my butters together? I was smelling an odd kind of burnt smell throughout the house and now my body butter won’t whip and it’s more of a lotion texture. Any advice? Should I melt it down again and add more cocoa or Shea to stiffen it up?
