[Question - Insurance] Application for govt medical assistance

So I applied for medical assistance through my state because I was diagnosed with MS this year and I’m a 20yr old college student. I was planning on this year being the first year I file taxes as an independent, as I live with my mother in the summer but other that, I deal with my own bills concerning medical matters and schooling. I thought that was enough? So because of that I applied for medical assistance saying I would not be claimed as someone’s dependent. I was accepted and now they’re asking me to choose a health plan. However, I guess I realized that because I’m a full time student and only work part-time I’m still a dependent. And for FAFSA I’m still considered a dependent. So what do I do? Do I call the Dept. of Human Services and tell them my application is wrong? Or do I just file taxes as an independent and still say I’m a dependent on FAFSA? Idk what’s legal here and I didn’t have a lot of help or knowledge when filling out these applications. I just don’t want legal repercussions, but I do really need assistance. I really wasn’t trying to trick the system. It’s just no one taught me anything about taxes and my status as a dependent or not.
