My 18 year old (soon to be 19) daughter is pregnant and living with us. I have a high deductible plan, so pretty much all of her doctors visits are paid for out of pocked, with a few dollars knocked off the price since she has "insurance".
So, she has no source of income. Is it possible for her to get on her own plan or on medicaid or anything like that? Or do they really expect her to pay thousands of dollars with no income just because she has insurance? Surely I'm not expected to pay all of her medical bills as she is an adult.
My plan does cover pregnancy for her, but as I said it's high deductible so everything is out of pocket until something like $9,000 is spent, then it will be covered something like 80%.
Anyone have some advice here? Does she need to move out to get medicaid? She will try to find work, but at her age nothing that will cover the medical bills and then child care once the baby is born.
