To recap my GF turns 26 in April and the original plan was to be on her fathers insurance until then and then hopefully have a job with benefits by then or close to losing her insurance. The spring semester is her last of her masters program and it is a full- time internship w/ out pay or benefits. Her father is getting laid off in January and is slightly pushing her to find her own insurance starting Jan 1 and make that decision by Dec 7 so he can change his enrollment. To add she is also a graduate assistant for her professor and gets a $1200 (after taxes) stipend every month and will work very part time. We are in Colorado.
We are looking for the best option for health insurance to not have an lapse in coverage and the most reasonably priced. She will have a job after the spring semester.
Does she qualify for Medicaid? Or does her stipend put her over the income level? ($1300/ month I believe)
Enroll through the affordable care act?
Thank you for any suggestions.
