Questions about being honest to your health care provider

I’m not sure if I’m posting in the right area but here are the questions.

-Why is it important to be honest with them?

-What are the benefits?

-If someone does something illegal (like smoking weed when it’s not legal), will they get in trouble? Or does HIPPA protect that?

-Any facts about the benefits of disclosing relevant information?

I have to make a poster about why it’s important to be open with health care providers and I want to make sure it actually is helpful and also I want to learn something too!
