My girlfriend started a new job mid-July. She works full time and the employer is now telling her she’ll have to wait a year before they’ll offer her insurance.
From what I researched my understanding is that the maximum waiting period is 90 days. We pointed this out to HR and they just blew her off and told her to wait a year. I’m not sure if I’m missing something like a weird exemption or something, but we’d like to get her covered soon.
Does anyone know if the employer is breaking the law by requiring her to wait longer than 90 days?
