Hi I have a question about changing hc plans or dropping it altogether and just going for something cheaper while on leave since my wages will be lowered during that time.
Short story: 35weeks pregnant and due date is 12/5. I am thinking to drop my medical which would save me about $400 a month. Something my family could really use since "maternity leave" only pays about 60% of what my regular wages would be. I would instead apply to state medical with the idea that it would save me money and o would be eligible after having lower wages. I would still keep dental and vision through my employer coverage.
Has anyone done this or know anything about it? Does it make sense? Is it a plausible idea or will I likely be stuck waiting while new coverage kicks in? That's the only real worrisome part for me since I'll have the new baby and will need her appts to be uninterrupted.
