My wife and I just found out we are pregnant. We live in China, but maintain a South Carolina USA resident address. Our only healthcare currently is South Carolina Blue Choice, blue cross blue shield or something like that. It's a silver plan, and is supposed to cover us overseas. But every time we have tried to use them in Beijing China, no matter what hospital we go to they (the hospital) require a GOP guarantee of payment, which our health insurance wont provide since it is not an emergency and they (bluechoice) say we need to pay out of pocket and submit a claim to them afterwards (which we absolutely do not have the money for).
Any help, suggestions or ideas?
Currently we cannot find any insurance companies that would cover pregnancy within 9 months of enrolling as anything other than a pre-existing condition (basically not covered.
We are worried and concerned. Any help would be appreciated, we are considering flying her back to SC for the delivery if we can't find anything for Beijing.
