I'm taking my Vitamin C daily and I'm currently having a hard time with my toothache.
I’m currently in Mexico accompanying my wife for a procedure our insurance would not provide. The care is EXCELLENT here. You have no idea just how great we have been treated unless you’ve experienced it for yourself.
Meanwhile, my 17 year old, insured daughter back home was turned away from an urgent care facility because we are not present and the facility will not answer the phone to get verbal consent.

If the covid-19 vaccines had been released while Trump was still in power and he had advocated for them (as he had been prior to losing the election) I suspect vaccination rates, particularly in red states, would be very different.
Unfortunately, as the vaccines have been released by a Democratic administration they are met with great suspicion and bizarre conspiracy theories.
What we need is a Trump-branded vaccine. Makes sure he gets a piece of the action with stock options or something to bring him on board (in exchange for using his "brand" label). Go with one of the vaccines not yet approved in this country. Doses could be obtained by exchanging them for U.S.-approved vaccines. It would be best if the Democratic administration appears uninvolved; perhaps make covert negotiations with a foreign vaccine manufacturer and have them approach the Trump people with the offer. The Biden administration and the CDC should of course appear reluctant to approve this "so-called Trump vaccine" and release it with "grave reservations".
Trump could promote it at his rallies and collect a percentage of the sales. The red states would get vaccinated and we could finally have this miserable disease out of our lives. Everyone wins (except Darwin).
I can’t be alone in this situation, but I’ve never talked to anyone that can share in my experience.
My gross is $125k, married with 6 children. My wife doesn’t work and I’m located in California.
The California healthcare program (can’t remember the name) offers plans to families within a certain income range. I don’t qualify for any discounts, but if I wanted to pay a monthly premium anyway, I’d be at around $1500.
Private insurance - like a Kaiser plan - would cost even more than that.
Then there’s my employer - a Fortune 500 company who offers multiple PPO plans with high annual deductibles. For example 12k before I can use the actual insurance. Once that number is reached, I still have to pay 20% coinsursnce for most services. We don’t have health problems so there isn’t a constant need to use insurance, so justifying the premium plus annual deductible is very difficult.
For some reason, in Southern California, HMO’s with copay’s have basically vanished. Well, they’re there but they’re super expensive and my employer doesn’t offer one.
Not sure if my complaint is even justified. I make good money but with other monthly expenses can’t COMFORTABLY afford healthcare.
I live in the US and had an appendectomy over three months ago. I had a bill for more than $500 from the anesthesiologist. Paid it. A month later, got another bill for exactly the same amount at exactly the same place, just for the anesthesiologist assistant. This is wildly predatory and unethical. I've had several experiences like this in the US over the last year and a half because of wild medical mishaps I had no control over. What groups are there in the US to end practices like this and for affordable healthcare in general?
