Had an appointment over a month ago , needed to do labs before they could prescribe it which is NP , I did that immediately and been waiting ever since.
Sent several follow ups to the doctor (no way to directly call) and today they say the faxed the info to the drug manufacturer and I’ll get a call from them , when I get a call from them they ask what I need , I tell them and they say they have to call a specialty pharmacy to see if they got 2 prior authorizations for 1 medication, how much it would be and if my insurance will cover it.
The drug manufacturer has the prior authorization but the doctor has to send it to the pharmacy. Out of pocket it’s it would be $150 (with insurance) each fill but i can do a savings card that may make it 0 copay (I don’t understand why that even needs to be done) , so now I have to contact my doctor to provide the pharmacy the prescription prior authorization to see if it’s covered and if it’s not then I go through the process all over again for another medication or hash it out with my insurance.
So for me to get a medication I need to deal with 4 separate parties (doctor , manufacturer, pharmacy, and insurance)
This pmo so much.
