I got laid off a few months ago, recently had a child, and my wife is a teacher and is taking the year off, so that's our scenario, quick and dirty.
We have savings, so I'm not worried about bills, but what are our options for health insurance? I'm aware of the Affordable Care Act, and it seems like our best option as my wife and kid will lose their insurance next February (due to taking the year off). Assuming I don't get another role, which is unlikely, I want to be as prepared as possible.
Whenever I bring it up, all my friends seem to gawk at the thought. I also have made much more than them over the past five years, but we all started at the same company ten years ago... I'm looking for advice, or if anyone has had experience with government healthcare coverage obvi the deductibles are high, but I'm curious if there is another route I haven't found #merica #tech #healthcare #tedtalk
