Hi all - I'm an EMT with two years of experience in a busy big city 911 system. I'm completely burned out from the 60-70 hour weeks, working nights, etc and want to make a change. I'd love to move back to a M-F 9-5 job that isn't so stressful. I'm also in school getting my prerequisites done for nursing school right now.
I've heard that EMT's can/have worked as Medical Assistants and that sounds like a great job to me. I'm been throwing my resume out there the last couple days. My concern is - some job descriptions show the MA will be giving IM injections for vaccines. Is this something I would just not be allowed to do given that I don't actually have an MA cert, only an EMT cert? I did do a training with the City of San Francisco in 2020 to deliver IM injections for the COVID vaccine, so I do have documented evidence of training for this, and have delivered IM injections in the past. But is this something that I won't be able to do in a clinic setting?
Thanks for any help!
