Crystal doedorant

I have bought a roll on deodorant from a company called Crystal. It works really well at eliminating odors but it has one problem. When I first used it, there was a strange smell coming from it. It has a foul smell that really annoys me whenever I put it on. Is it normal for it to smell that way since most of the ingredients are made minerals and salts.
