[Question - Insurance] Clarity on the divide in opinion between single payer and what we have now

I think this also counts as Discussion, but I could only do one or the other.

So I'm in Omaha and know some people in different departments and different levels of the medical field. Their basic opinion is that while what we have now is not without flaws, a single payer system is not the answer. Discussions come down to one side over simplifying it and the other over complicating it.

A point that I found interesting, since we are in a red state is how healthcare workers in blue cities/states think about it. I'm inclined to believe what a healthcare professional I am friends with will tell me about the system at a social interaction, but at the same time I recognize living in a red area and was curious if you put red state healthcare on one side of the room and blue state healthcare one the other side...what is that discussion like? Is there a divide in the industry?

I do hope this is the right sub for this question. Appreciate any input!
