I've been experimenting with a shampoo bar (by Lush) and no-shampoo, and I've found when I brush my hair my hairbrush gets covered in this white powdery substance. First I thought it might be from the shampoo bar, but I've been doing water-only for a week and the white stuff is still going strong. Today will be my third water-only shower, so I don't think the powder is from the shampoo bar, and my suspicion is that my hair is just really dry, so when I brush it, it 'flakes'.
I'm going to try an ACV rinse today, but if that doesn't work, can anyone recommend some conditioner options? Ideally looking for either a conditioner bar (I'm trying to reduce plastic usage), or a plant oil/butter. I tried adding some jojoba oil after showering, and although it made my hair feel nicer, did not reduce the white powder. Maybe oils don't work as a hair moisturizing agent?
Edit: I have straight hair, normal thickness :) Fwiw.
