So my company shafted us and increased the cost of our healthcare. (Which used to be totally employer paid)
I'm trying to decide between the following, and I wanted a second opinion or two.
a $500 deductible plan for $1346.52 per year
a $5000 deductible plan for $789.48 per year
I'm debating putting the extra $600 directly in a savings account rather than pay it to an insurance company, and going to a lower deductible plan when I hit 50.
I'm a 45-year old white male in decent shape. I don't smoke, drink or do anything risky like skydiving. No wife or dependents to worry about. I have not been to a doctor in 3 years. (The last visit was literally having a doctor tell me "You're healthy, now pay us $200")
I need to decide this by midnight tomorrow.
Thoughts? Thanks
