Two extreme options might play out...first lets say big pharma discovers it and charges an order of magnitude more than current cancer treatments. It is justified, right? If we spend x amount on just trying to extend life expectancy on patients in many cases, then they should be able to charge x + ALOT more for a simple cure.
Second scenario might be a university discovers and frees it to the world patent free. All med & pharma companies scramble to develop their own and the price drops to that of Aspirin or a simple vaccination.
What could we expect to see in the healthcare industry in each of these scenarios?
