[question - insurance] how does my specialty prescription affect my employer?
If I have a specialty script that is covered by my employer’s insurance plan (or else would cost $1000 a month to have):
-
How does this affect my employer and what they have to pay towards the insurance provider?
-
Are my employer’s costs to the insurance provider evidently astronomical higher within the same year of hiring me?
-
If so, can they attribute these costs directly to me, the employee? Could an insurance agent legally or secretly tell them that I have this prescription?
-
Does my prescription being covered cause increase in premiums for employees overall?
Thanks in advance for advice! Please let me know if this fits in a different sub for advice. Thanks!
[question-other]
Frustrated with basic health care in the USA.
Moved to a new city, have some issues that are concerning, but not enough to go to the ER. No one is accepting new patients. I don’t know what to do. Our system is broken.
Doctors are booked until the end of the year. It’s ridiculous. Are things like this in other countries?

Hair growth and thickness remedies?
Hello all, I would like to know what kind of remedies that you guys have personally used that have helped with hair growth and thickening.
My hair takes FOREVER to grow, probably half an inch in half of a year and no I wish I was kidding. It's fairly odd because my nails grow like crazy.
I almost shaved my head so that it'll grow even and basically new. But since I know it will probably take years just for it to be shoulder length I stopped myself.
Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated and super helpful.
Thank you 😊

Need Help getting rid of Acne please help!!
Hi there, my names Alex and im a 19 year old male who has been dealing with acne for years now. I first tried addressing it by seeing a dermatologist and through thier advice started using prescription creams (such as epiduo) but unfortunately didnt do much after 2 years of use. They then recommended I start taking a course of roaccutane which i knew defiantly wouldn't be for me. after doing more research i started turning towards holistic methods. i was already pescatarian when i was 16/17 so it became more easier in a way to cutting out other food groups like dairy, processed sugars/foods. I began to see some improvement but not heaps. i then started to work on getting my guthealth, liver, kidneys and also different vitamin/mineral groups working better and this also helped bring it down more. after trying so many different natural skin products and methods i found that all of that didn't do much but set my face to go way out of balance causing me to rash in certain parts and feel stinging pain when id apply something new that would guarantee I wouldn't get anymore acne?! but im still left with lots of pigmintation and skin discoloration not only on my face but body aswell, (i actually have scars now aswell :/ ) something ive found that helped alot was just using a cold damp face washer and softly swiping it across my face which has stopped more acne forming but still wont get rid of the pigmentation. Im honestly so lost on what to do i just want to give up but i know im pretty close so ill keep trying. so please if anyone on this thred know anything at all that I can try that'll help me eliminate this stubbon skin condition ill love you forever! thanks!

Beeswax for lipbalm?
I'm looking to make my own lipbalms and one of the ingredients im looking at is 100% pure beeswax - but I'm wondering if it has to be refined or something of the like in order for it to be cosmetic grade, or if '100%' is the indicator of it being good for cosmetics?
I just got hit with a $4000 bill this year from the IRS. All because of healthcare costs. [other]
Apparently I wasn’t paying enough in 2019. I had a really hard time navigating the covered California website. They make it really hard. I was only paying like 80 a month when I should’ve been paying 250. I knew I would get hit with a tax bill but I didn’t think it would be 4000. Nonetheless it’s my bad. Go figure I never even got sick and all of 2019, Never once went to the doctor never once had to get a prescription the entire year.
Then the year from hell came. I lost my job and my health declined. I was no longer insured and I got shingles which I had to pay out-of-pocket for the urgent care and the medications ,totaling about $750.
So now my tax debt is up to $7500 all because of healthcare costs. All because of a system that I failed to navigate well. I was literally on hold once for a couple hours because I couldn’t login. sometimes I just give up ; I’m so impatient , but look where that got me.
[Question - Other] Is the Healthcare Management Short Course through George Washington University legit?
I am trying to get accepted into grad school so that I may pursue an MHA. One of the schools I was looking at was George Washington University Milken Institute of Public Health. After doing a bunch of research, I found that they offer a shortcourse through "Getsmarter", a company that offers certificates from UNiversities after attending an online course.
This course in particular is 8-weeks long for a cost of $1900. I don't want to make the investment unless I know it's worth it. The fact that it is through the school that I planned on applying for makes me think that it may help bolster my application for their MHA programs. Is it worth it or not?

[question - other] peroxide reacting on skin with no cut?
My fiancé was putting peroxide on a cut on her finger when some ran to the backside of her hand. It then proceeded to fizz across the back of her hand when there was no cut or anything present there. I’m no doctor but I don’t think it’s supposed to do that. Is this bad? My brain says there’s not enough oils in her skin and it was destroying healthy skin cells but again, not a doctor.

Disputing Medical Records [Question-Other]
I requested medical records from a local clinic mostly to mess around with the sync.md personal health record application. When I was reviewing the records a mental health counselor I saw one time documented that I stated that I use recreational drugs monthly (True THC) and that I use prescription medications recreationally daily. This is completely untrue. I never stated that and not sure how he got that message. I still have leftover 3 Vicodin from an ER visit 10 months ago and only was given 10 at the time. I have emAiled the provider with my concerns, but is there any way to have this formally reviewed for correction? This will appear to the physician that if I do have any acute pain the reason is actually to seek medication. My primary doc knows that I don't use medication that way and he knows about the THC use, but if my records state otherwise won't every doc from now on think I'm an addict?

[Discussion] My right nostril and ear feel blocked.
[Discussion] It’s been over a month since it first started happening. Out of nowhere my right nostril just clogged up and at first I thought I had a cold or something then about a week or so later my right ear began to feel the same. Hearing from my right ear sounds quieter from my left and also feels clogged. I also don’t really get pains from my ear either so idk if it’s an ear infection. It will also ring once or twice a week. I’ve raked medicine for sinus and allergies, and also ear drops and nothing has worked. What other things should I try before seeing a doctor?

[Question - Other] Should I drink tea or not?
So I have been drinking tea (with milk and sugar) everyday as long as I can remember, If I don't drink tea then I get a headache. Recently I have seen a lot of articles and Youtube videos of people saying that they quit caffeine and it was really good. Now I am really confused because I also heard that drinking tea has a lot of health benefits. So are these YT people only talking about coffee? I mean tea has caffeine too, is it bad too or is there a limit up to which its fine to drink tea?

[Question - Insurance] Is this insurance fraud?
My dentist told I might have TMJ disorder few months back and referred me to their partner clinic. It doesn't pain and I never felt the need to see a doc but lately has been an inconvenience/irritating as it produces cracking sound. Could be due to lot of stress (death in family and other issues) probably so I consulted the referred clinic.
I consulted a doctor who suggested a jaw splint while sleeping and told some manual exercises. It felt like they indirectly forced me into it as I felt it was not necessary. While on the dental chair only, I told them I need to check with insurance and they said they have already connected with my insurance and I need to pay only 10% after deductible so we can start right now and built it taking my measurements. It costed me $550 after insurance paid.
Fast forward now (second visit), I went to take the splint and it's too tight, the doctor tried to adjust it for almost 50 mins and due to continuous trials I started having tooth ache and gave up. I said I can try at home since I wasn't even sure if it was fitting due to ache. I tried at home and it immediately started paining canines and a bit in Incisors. Moreover during this (second) visit I told the doctor that even after manual exercises, it's same, she didn't even pay attention.
Are they doing insurance fraud but since I sort of agreed (forced or didn't deny) in the first visit, I am not sure? It seems they were only interested in selling the splint.

Can anyone recommend a great natural mascara and felt tip liquid eyeliner? These are the two things I can’t seem to find one I love!
Just started using Salicylic acid: Skin purging.
Hello!
I have mostly unproblematic skin, aside from some spots I get around my cycle. I've been pretty regimented with my skincare routine but it has always been missing a proper exfoliation element. Honestly, most of my skin does just fine with a weekly deep oil cleanse and then the rest of my routine, but I noticed that I could feel bumps in my chin skin that were fairly large in comparison to most of my pores, and deep under the skin. I finally caved and purchased Salicylic acid (BHA). My poor chin is currently a sacrificial lamb. Even though I knew there were impurities in there, my skin looked great on the surface. Im now 3.5 weeks into my SA routine and those dudes are coming up to roost just below the surface of my skin. So... currently my skin looks terrible on my chin, but I'm holding out because I know this was what was meant to happen.
No more touching my face.
I'm certain that's whats contributed heavily to the build up occurring on my chin.
I'm keeping an incremental video progress report to show how this product reacts with my skin type and condition, so I'll post an update once the purge is (hopefully) over to let you know how it went! I think this is the case of "it gets worse before it gets better" and I'm okay with that. I can share via dm if you'd like to follow this process. What has your experience been with BHA?

I read that O- is universal so worst case scenario, even if I am mistaken and my blood type is not O- then it will still be ok. Is that true?
