Secure Advantage Plus? Private health insurance policy

Has anyone owned Secure Advantage Plus? Wanting to know honest experiences with them. They say they are a Freedom / UnitedHealth subsidiary.

What challenges have you had with the policy?

Proposal 80/20 $2500/$2500 for $1K / month for 2 people. No need to cover maternity, mental health or rehab.

It was so easy to get underwritten for this arguably top tier medical policy that my radar is up. I trust nothing and know these agents look to get paid and run. I also know insurers look for any reason not to pay.

I want to hear from actual clients holding this policy.

Honest, firsthand feedback please. 🙏

How to report an office for fraud and scams? (NC)

I was scammed into paying 270 to register my ESA, in cash, no receipt. I’m not sure where to go now, it was a mental health place, who do I report this to? How do I report them? I’m located in NC. Like I need a guide on how- like a link? And then tell me what to fill out on that link? I’m really lost.

Healthcare workers how do you cope with death?

I am half way into my classes and it hit me hard. One of my instructors before they became an instructor, was working in a clinic and she was barely 19 (she was a MA to scrape up money for medical school.) She was in her first month of working and a couple brought in a 3 month old who was bruised and beaten. The baby had broken ribs arms legs, concussion, ruptured appendix, etc. She was preforming CPR on this poor baby and gave it her all. But the baby passed away in her arms. It hit me like a ton of bricks. What if I were to encounter this? I don’t know if I can do it.

How to use Benefit stipend from job?

I recently started a new job that offers about 130$ a week, that can either be used to cover the cost of enrollment for full coverage through their provider, or I have the option to not enroll for medical insurance through them and instead keep thr stipend and do what i please with it.

Before i knew this, i was planning on enrolling through my job to get benefitd regardless because I havent been to a doctor and years and quite honestly, i get stressed having to go throught the marketplace. But someone mentioned that maybe I should get a cheaper insurance through the markeplace and pocket the extra money.

Can I have some advice on what I should be looking at to make my decision? I honestly dont know how to compare which policies are worth the money or not. Im pretty much paycheck to paycheck to paycheck so having the extra money would help, but i desperately want to go to the doctor and if its worth it, i really would like to take advantage of the stipend.

If it helps, thr service provider is HealthComp, using the Cigna network? (I dont really understand what this means.)

We also have an in house nurse here. Im not sure if that provides more information. This all feels foreign to me.

Is getting a bachelors in health services admin worth it?

I graduated from college back in 2022 with a degree in business admin with a concentrarion in business econ but since then I've been struggling trying to find a decent paying job. Ive mostly been stuck in retail and food service without any way of getting out.

Ive been working as a server at a retirement home for the past few months and have thought about just getting into healthcare careers that arent being a nurse or a doctor.

Would a healthcare admin be worth going bac to school for?

Can I know my results over the phone?

In January I got my Annual Pap smear and I was told that I the office called me, that meant that there was something wrong. the office called me a few days after to schedule an appointment to see the doctor so she could discuss the results with me. I was there for less than 7 min. She said that I had abnormal cells and that I should come back in a few months to see what was wrong because they didn’t know yet. I got another Pap smear done a few days ago (6 months later since the last one) and they called me again saying that I needed to see the dr again. I asked if it was possible to know what was going on with my results since I can’t really afford to see her again. The receptionist said “no, I don’t even know what you have. You have to come” I said I really can’t go at this moment. She said that I had to cause the results were “worse”. It feels like they just want my money, and I get it, they’re a business, but I feel sad and upset about that. That time that I went only for 5 min for her to tell me that I had to come back later on, I had to pay. It doesn’t feel fair. I was wondering if anyone knew if it’s an obligation to see the dr to know my results.

Is being Trespassed after resigning normal?

So, ive only been in the industry as a worker for three years, my first job in it there were many illegal and otherwise problematic issues occurring such as elder abuse and physical assault. After I gathered sufficient evidence I resigned publicly stating the legal and ethical malpractice occurring with the Executive Director. Later the next day I get a call from her stating I am being trespassed and I cannot return to the location for any reason. This was somewhat expected as the boss clearly has many issues that make her a loose cannon. Skip forward to me resigning from my second job in the business, where I left on mostly amicable terms, I was constantly harassed by coworkers and management simply refused to do anything about it so I left without a fuss. Next day I get a call from a police officer stating I am trespassed and cannot return. Thought to myself well that’s shitty of them to do. Im now at a good place finally with no real issues, and I hear from my current boss that I am one of the few employees that can work at a certain location because that company has trespassed all their employees that have left. I am wondering now if this is a standard practice in the industry? And also perhaps if it would be safe to return to the first job now since the director was fired?

I don't really know anyone in the new town to be honest as i haven't ever been here before. The majority of the carers in the home are early 20's with a couple my age, but honestly I think it would be awkward hanging out with them without other guys. In the US, if you are injured/ shot committing a crime, are you covered by health insurance?

For context. Say you rob a liquor store with a gun and the attendant shoots you or you get shot by police. Does health insurance cover you? What if you don't have health insurance?

This question popped in to my head while watching some video reviews on police shootings.

I ask because as an Australian, if I were to get shot committing a crime, I would be covered by the tax payer. However if I was to crash my car while drunk, because I was under the influence of alcohol, breaking the law, my car insurer would not cover me.

From CNA to RN: How I Passed the NCLEX in 85 Questions!

Hey Everyone!

With the incredible support of this CNA Reddit community and my fellow CNAs, I am proud to say I'm officially a Registered Nurse! 🎉

I passed the NCLEX in 85 questions and am excited to start my new RN job in NJ, where I worked as a PCT. For anyone going through NCLEX prep right now, nursing school, or looking towards the future, stay strong and don't give up. 💪

I have been a CNA for 4 years, finished my BSN in May, and am now an RN. Feel free to ask me anything, and for anyone preparing for the NCLEX, I definitely recommend Archer Review.

I purchased the SurePass Combo, which included live review sessions, lecture videos, and a large test bank. I studied for 3 weeks, about 4-5 hours a day, and passed with 85 questions 🥳! Archer's format also mirrors the new NCLEX, which was incredibly helpful. Plus, Archer is more affordable compared to other resources and I found the discount code "COMBO30" on Reddit!

For anyone still looking for a resource, you can check it out here: 🔗Archer Review🔗

Are doctors arrogant or ignorant?

I swear every American doctor I've met is either of the two when it comes to Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRAs). My insurance is with United and it is a Choice Plus WITH HRA. However, doctors and their faculty don't understand it and I'm leaning towards that they're just being malicious and wanting to make it difficult for the patient. Ideally a doctor would be a good Samaritan, helping the patient and going above and beyond, but it seems that they only do healthcare for the money. I hope those who are truly saints in their actions soon become the majority because this is getting ridiculous.

My question is: Can healthcare providers deny HRA? I was told that I needed to pay for my deductible first but it is conventional wisdom that HRA pays first before deductible. If they cannot deny HRA, I would love to sue every doctor that has delayed my treatment.

I need help for my dad

My dad doesn't have the best health and I am worried about him , he is turning 49 soon and has health issues , weight problems , diabetes and mainly a smoking problem , he smokes a lot of cigarettes, I won't say a pack a day but still a lot and it really worries me.

He has medical healthcare for his diabetes and weight issues and has reduced his sugar levels and weight and i am prpud of him, he has tried smoking patches and hypnosis for his smoking issue but nothing has worked . I think he has been smoking for 15+ years , he did lessen his smoking back some years ago , even completely stopped for a moment I think but it didn't last long.

I have been begging him for years to stop and have been trying to help but I have my own life and can't be with him 24/7 checking everything he does and he gets aggressive when me and my family mention how much he smokes and how much we dislike it and are worried he might get health issues from it.

I know that smoking is a bad addiction which is difficult to stop , and I want to give him my full support , I already sent him some late night worry texts about it asking him to be careful. I really want him to get some help for him to completely stop, somehow.

Please try to help him and I , I don't wanna lose my dad.

Thank you.

Are there any examples of types of healthcare that are banned in some US states but not others (besides abortion, IVF, gender-affirming care, and assisted suicide)?

I am interested in the regulation of healthcare, and this question has me stumped.

The only thing I can think of is maybe an elective amputation of one’s healthy limb—but I don’t know. There’s lots of literature about the ethics of such a procedure but I can’t find a straight answer about how it’s legally regulated.

Sterilization as a form of criminal punishment is differently regulated. But I do not consider this to be “healthcare” just because a doctor does it. Same for executions.

I considered adding medical THC to the list, but weed is still considered schedule I by the fed, it’s just not enforced in legalized/decriminalized states. It’s a completely different can of worms.

Can anyone else think of another example?

Applying for Healthcare Job

Hello everyone,

I’m currently an Undergrad student in Tampa, with hopes to go to Physician Assistant School. I’ve covered most of my bases so far but I need to get a job involved in healthcare for more hours of experience. I know becoming a CNA would be ideal, but it would be more helpful if I could find a job to apply for sooner than going through the process of getting my CNA license. I have a lot of job experience, great grades, and plenty of hours shadowing physicians in the healthcare setting. What positions could I apply for the quickest that still look good for getting healthcare experience? Thank you!

Accuracy of findings on MyChart

Hello!

I recently had an MRI and the findings were posted on MyChart within a couple of hours. Under “Impressions” it said the following

  1. High-grade tears of the anterior talofibular and calcaneofibular ligaments.
  2. Bone contusions of the talar head, neck, and medial navicular.
  3. Small tibiotalar joint effusion.

I was wondering how accurate these findings are and how serious I should take the severity of these descriptions (Specifically the first one). I still have an appointment to see my doctor to go over everything, but this obviously isn’t comforting and I want to make sure I’m mentally prepared

My fiancé broke her tibia and fibula and was in the hospital for a week (other driver declared at fault). They sent her home and said PT would be in touch. Four days later they called and basically said “sorry, none of the in home care providers want to take this on because they’re afraid they won’t get paid due to lawyers and insurance being involved”. Not exact words but that’s basically what they said. So, we are now going to have to call around to PT places and I’ll have to drive her multiple days a week when we were hoping to keep her out of cars for another couple weeks as much as possible.

Is this normal? Any advice?

What program or specialty can I do where I don't have to start over with my college basics.

I started nursing school and stopped due to my divorce. Wanting to go into the medical field. But not wanting to go through my basics again since so much time has lapsed, I would have to start over with them. What would my options be, not interested in being a CNA.

Survey on American Working Professionals and Unemployment Benefits

Hey all, I'm doing a quick survey for a university project on American working professionals and unemployment benefits. The survey should take around 10 minutes to complete - if you have a little bit of spare time to complete it, I would really appreciate it. Even one response is really huge for me. Thanks!

[MN] Looking for a patient advocate

Hi, there! I don't know if my tag is the right one, I'll change it if need be!

Onto my question:

I'm 27F, living in MN, USA and I've been trying to find a patient advocate for myself. Ideally I'd like one person who can be familiar with myself and my health to come with me to my various appointments to help me when needed with speaking up and bringing things to my care teams' attention.

I have a few different things going on, but the big one that's making me seek this is (currently) undiagnosed Autism and some mild cognitive issues that we're working on getting checked out. While I have providers who do believe I'm on the spectrum and are generally great to work with, they aren't able to diagnose ASD and I'm on waitlists for testing. But the way this effects my other care is that sometimes I have a hard time communicating my symptoms and concerns. Even when I make lists. For the most part I've gotten good at advocating for myself, but I usually forget to mention things, or if a provider is pushing back in a way I'm not used to I get flustered and it derails the appointment on my end.

My mom and partner are a big help, but they can't always come to my appointments. And also, I'd love to have another professional who's job is to help patients communicate their needs in the room with me.

I've tried calling the Patient Advocacy Foundation, and right away in the morning they're already not taking on new cases. I know I can ask each clinic about a patient advocate, but like I said, I'd love one person who's familiar with me and my health so there's some consistency. Does anyone know of ways or have resources to find a (preferably free) patient advocate for myself?

Thank you in advance.
