Could you please share a free source where can I get global individual PPE(Mask, Goggles, Respirators, etc.) use data region-wise (7-1/Antarctica region of the world) ?
Am I irrelevant? (Patient Access)
So, I’m the ER operator and patient access of a small critical access hospital. My role is to be the (only) operator at night and handle the registration of patients, billing, bed board, and sorting of documents for medical records.
Even though training took 3 months and is quite a lot for one individual. I sometimes feel really irrelevant. The doctors and nurses are so amazing, and I just fill the role of the office bitch. I know that my role is important, as I call out for code blues, clear landing zones for life flights that leave our facility, and all the other things I mentioned. But I feel like I’ll never be considered a truly valuable worker. I don’t even know if I’m considered “healthcare.” I’m disposable.
I’m so proud of our nurses and doctors during this difficult time. But, I can’t help but feel a tear well up inside when I only hear about them. I work so hard, and for countless hours. They rely on me constantly to know protocols and who to call and what to do when they’re stabilizing a patient. I know my work will never add up to theirs. But I feel like all the running, the hard work, and how hard I have to focus at times, doesn’t really matter.
I’ve built a spreadsheet that includes estimates, EOBs, bills, CPT codes, discounts, deductibles, and co-insurance (and more) and it is unwieldy and time-consuming. So, question: how do you track your healthcare bills AND ensure they are accurate?
If anyone can share their experience in the field, that would be amazing! I would love to hear about anything from what you’ve learned to how you got to your career.
(Some background info about me: I’m 19F currently in college majoring in healthcare administration. I plan on pursuing a minor in Information Systems, I work as a research assistant analyzing the cost effectiveness of telehealth and how it would affect health insurance plans, and I have an internship that is related to the field. If all goes well, I might get the chance to present the research at a national conference in the next year or so! My goal is to obtain an MHA or MBA and work at a children’s hospital as a CTO or something related to info systems)
Hello, I am looking for somewhere to buy N95 masks or KN95 masks at a reasonable price and must be on FDA approved lists. I am a dentist and have not been able to source anywhere and we are pretty exposed to aerosols in addition to us creating aerosols when doing procedures. Please let me know if you know where I can buy some. Thanks!
I am a Biomedical Sciences major, and am looking to get into the healthcare field. I am going to create a resume, sadly I don’t have any healthcare experience (worked as a waiter for two years). I’m applying for patient transporter jobs, pharmacy tech, anything entry level.
Does anyone have any tips for getting hired into these positions? I feel like it’s different then calling up a restaurant to speak to the hiring manager. After applying online what would be my next move? What can I put on my resume even though I have no experience? What are good entry level jobs? Thanks.
Hi All,
A few months ago, I broke my knee and went to the doctor for it. Doctor confirmed the fracture and prescribed a knee brace and told me they would be able to provide one there. I asked for the price of it, they told me they were not sure about the price. Since I was in pain, I said ok, and gor the brace. The provider charged $750 to my insurance and my insurance negotiated down to $450. Since I have high deductible plan, I am expected to pay for it. I checked online and the same brace (by the same company, same model etc.) is retailed for $150. I emailed the provider and they told me they would not help out. Is there anything I can do to reduce the bill? Location: California, USA
I see constantly see things about the shortage of docs. I also know standards are much higher than they were even 20 years ago to matriculate into medical school. Does this have any benefits to society, the health system or to physicians in general?
For example, there are not enough US students to even fill all residency spots. I read up to a quarter or residency spots go to physicians trained abroad. Even on top of this, there is still a shortage of physicians after residency!
Accounting degree or a bachelors in healthcare admin?
I’m eventually going to go for an MHA. Just want to know which would be best for opportunities and growth
I asked my family doctor's office to renew my Budesonide prescription (asthma medicine), but the office attendant told me that I will need to schedule an appointment to get it renewed. Because of the COVID-19 situation that would mean paying 100 dollars for a 2 minute Skype call, just to be able to purchase my medicine. Is there an alternative to this?
I use mostly natural/non-tox skincare, beauty, food, cleaning, etc, but also have Colgate/Crest in my bathroom :/ I'm sure it's just as important to make a swap for my toothpaste, but have also seen a lot of dentists say use whatever you prefer. So, how crucial is it to make a swap, and what are your fave inexpensive (not $5/tube!) options available online?
I’ve been searching for months to find a more natural version of neutrogena’s oil free moisturizer. I finally have perfected a clean (by EWG standards, 3 or less) beauty routine EXCEPT for this key member. Please help so I can stop searching! 😭
(I have acne prone skin that gets oily fast, if that helps)
I'm always looking for ways to incorporate more environmentally friendly habits into my lifestyle. Whether it's going natural to benefit myself or benefit the planet I'm looking for things that maybe one wouldn't think about right away.
I've switched to natural deodorants, bar shampoo/conditioner, reusable bottles, avoid plastic bags at the grocery store, more plant based meals, etc.
What other ways can I help myself and the environment?
Recently lost my job due to shutdowns and now Im not sure what to do about my health insurance. I didn’t get insurance through my job, I got it through the NY marketplace so my plan/premiums were tied to my income. While I was employed this cost was do-able but now that I’m unemployed it’s $540/month I can’t afford. So what’s the best thing to do here? I know that the marketplace allows you to make changes to your application for “life events” like job loss but has anyone gone through this already and have advice? Should I change my plan? Would applying while unemployed mean income is $0 and I’m now basically qualified for Medicaid? I feel a bit overwhelmed and I could use some advice, thank you!
I make almost all of my personal care products, with some purchased ones that are good quality. I try to not use plastic. The one thing I cannot seem to make as well as the bottled stuff is lotion. I use tons of it. I’ve tried different natural recipes for lotions, oils, and whipped butters which are all great on occasion but just don’t give the same results as lotion. Anyone have any recipes they use or any lotion that doesn’t come in plastic packaging?
Is there any soap with friendly pH for skin that works good for you? I want to use less products in plastic and face cleanser is particularly hard to go from plastic to no-plastic.
This is how you can make your own diy lip balm at home made without beeswax only using raw shea butter.
You need to melt 1tbsp shea butter (double boiling) when butter is still hot, move on adding 1 tsp castor oil (natural preservative and recommended oil to prevent chapped lips) mix a little bit.
Add the pinch of cocoa powder (you don't need to add this if you don't like it) stir well until the liquid turns brown and then add 5 drops of your favorite oil (mine is peppermint also goes along with coco).
This recipe is enough for two containers (small ones), air dry for a minimum of 2 hours. Enjoy!
I dye my hair with HENNA for the first time :
Hi everyone!
Considering that I'm in lockdown, I thought it would be the perfect timing to stop using deodorant and go through the detox. I was wondering what your thoughts were on how to transition out of the antiperspirant phase. I normally do not sweat too much unless I'm extensively exercising. Besides baby wipes what is a good way to keep dry and fresh?
Thanks!
I Injured my knee from my fall last week I had a large abscess that I had drained three days ago. The doctor told me to change out the dressing every two days I’ve changed it out twice because it came out when I changed my bandage. There still a little blood. It looks watery. It gets on the Curad strip I have to put into the open cut. Is this normal? I’m also taking antibiotic Clindamyacin.
And comments regarding pros and cons are appreciated! We are looking at procuring identification and enrollment software for a client of mine and any information/recommendations are appreciated!
Cheers!
Hello all. New to this subreddit, but I hope this post abides the rules
My team and I from MIT COVID-19 Hackathon have a project that involves aiding health-care professionals. In the safest, fastest way possible we aim to train volunteers and match them to hospitals in need to free up valuable healthcare provider time. Short-term, we want to help mitigate the effects of the Covid19 pandemic, but hope to become a long-term support system for the healthcare system in the US and abroad.
We plan on recruiting and screening our volunteers online. During the screening process volunteers are trained using our online courses that have been reviewed by medical professionals, and group training sessions led by medical professionals. When screening and training is complete volunteers will be matched with hospitals in their region.
I'm just here to ask for feedback on this idea from anyone familiar with the healthcare system, as well if anyone wishes to contribute to the project in any way by, i guess, giving feedback?
Thank you for reading,
here's a nonexistent potato
Has anyone tried this, are there good reviews on it? I'm interested in the claim that it'll inhibit hair growth, but of course, I want to know if it works/gives no bad reactions too.
Thank you!
Hi all, I've switched to natural deodorants for some time now. Atleast 5 months at this point. I've tried Myro, Native, and Schmidts. Myro was a no go for me, gave me irritation (no baking soda in ingredients, just did not do well with my skin for whatever reason). I do like Native, it works well but feel like there might be something better. What do you use and love?
Interesting article about digital healthcare start up companies and the turn to digital health in the pandemic era.
