So, I've been trying to find a natural deodorant that works for me, but it's been a long and slightly musty year for me.
I am extremely sensitive to baking soda, and possibly something else? So that rules out a lot of deodorants. If I try a new deodorant, I'll put some on and the next day, my armpits are red, tender, itchy as all hell, and smell fucking awful. I have to go deodorant free until it clears, and then I will try the deodorant again. If I get the same reaction, I throw it out. This has not only happened to me with natural deodorants, but also men's deodorants that look almost solid clear gel based (or something like that), the soft gel/cream push up kind from Secret, roll-on deodorants cause the same reaction in me. Regular ol' Secret, which I used for years, does not cause any reactions, but I really would prefer to stick to something natural. I've put a lot of time, money, sanity, sweat, and smell in this deodorant experiment.
I have tried Schmidt's, Crystal, Primal Pit Paste, Desert Essence (this one did not have Baking Soda, but it still broke me out. It was a solid but kind of clear), Mineral Salt sprays, "off-brand" natural deodorant (from Sprouts), and even just plain ol' coconut oil (this didn't really work because I still would get musty throughout the day, did not break me out).
I checked out the deodorant list in the side bar, but all of those have baking soda. :(
Does anyone else have similar sensitivities? What has worked for you?
Thank you in advance for all of your help!
